The challenge for many modern Christians, like me, is we are too literal and the Psalms, by and large, are filled with poetic metaphors. In a world saturated with self help books that give you 3 principles and 10 steps, our prayer life lacks imagination.
We usually talk about embracing limits in terms of time and schedule, but often limits include relationships. The thought of letting someone fail terrifies us. So we end up carrying around more problems then God intends us to carry.
Only once did Jesus only talk about prayer in terms of time. He asked the disciples, “Could you now keep watch with me for an hour?” If He asked you that question, what would you answer?
